Razom kit includes multiple sender nodes and a wireless receiver which is a MIDI gateway. The sensing nodes capture 3D motion data and transmit it thru an ESP-NOW mesh network to the MIDI gateway, which offers a web-based interface for mapping and managing the data streams in order to convert those into real-time MIDI control parameters. The open architecture of this wearable sensor platform fully commits to the extreme prototyping paradigm and proudly upholds the DIY principle. Razom seeks to transport the motion sensing into the acoustic realm.
Core Features
Dependable performance
Utilizing ESP-NOW wireless protocol ranges of up to 500m are possible. Compact sender packet size of 48 Bytes enables rapid and efficient data transmission and processing, reducing latency to the minimum, while maintaining full WiFi Compatibility: Razom integrates into existing networks with ease, opening up possibilities for remote control and monitoring of installations and performances.
Multicore architecture
Harnessing the power of both ESP32 cores, Razom uses parallel sensor and MIDI data processing, during uninterrupted server operation. The dual core architecture offers separate control loops to eliminate complex dispatching routines and bears abundant computation capacity, making it an ideal foundation for advanced applications in robotics and motion-controlled devices.
Free as a freedom
All elements not specifically licensed otherwise are in the public domain, fostering a culture of collaboration. This approach is extended by on-demand PCB manufacturing, orderable at any fabrication facility, democratizing the build process and encouraging creative customization. Razom is an ideal choice for artists, makers, and those willing to learn more about embedded systems.
Upcoming software enhancements are set to feature implementations for both Bluetooth Low Energy and UDP/OSC protocols, as well as Over-The-Air update capabilities, enhanced user interactions over touch pin switches and an more blinkenlights. Regarding the hardware, the second-generation model is anticipated to boast an integrated all-in-one PCB design and TRS-MIDI compatibility.
